Davao Chinatown

The Davao Chinatown, also known as Mindanao Chinatown is the only Chinatown in Mindanao located in Davao City, Philippines. It is the main residential area for the Filipino-Chinese community in the city. The area is bordered by the streets of Santa Ana, Monteverde Avenue, Ramon Magsaysay and Leon Garcia. It is the Philippines' largest Chinatown with the total land area of 44 hectares. It encompasses by 4 barangays. It includes Chinese restaurants serving Chinese cuisine, hardware and automotive spare parts shops, and various Chinese-owned businesses mostly owned by the Chinese Filipino residents of the city.
==History ==
The history of the Davao Chinatown began in the year 2003 when the Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte issued an Executive Order declaring that the portions of Barangay 30-C & Barangay 27-C where the streets of the area are occupied by the Filipino-Chinese residence in the city with their respective businesses.〔http://vigattintourism.com/tourism/articles/Davao-Citys-ChinaTown〕 The objectives of the DCCDC (Davao City Chinatown Development Council) is to assist the active implementation and conservation of policies in the area which has a great culture and heritage, as well as commercial, economic and social significance in the society.
The Davao City Chinatown Development Council saw it fitting to formally launch the city's own Chinatown during the Chinese New Year, which fell on January 26, 2009, through a week-long festival that began January 24 through January 31, 2009.
